TROPICAL STORM AND/OR HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS

Connecticut's primary concern is normally August - November, however recent forecasts have us paying closer attention in July.

Facebook and Twitter users are recommended to 'Like' the page and turn on notifications and see first functions as not to miss important town information 

If a tropical storm or hurricane is forecast to impact Westbrook

 Visitors are encouraged to leave Westbrook and return to their homes, at least 12-24 hours prior to affecting Westbrook. Visitors can remain in Westbrook if they can stay at their location with no impacts to their life and safety. During a weather event, emergency services (police - fire - ambulance) are limited or restricted to responding until wind speeds are reduced to a safe level by their service chief. 

Residents who live adjacent to the shoreline and marshes are encouraged to consider temporarily leaving their home and stay with:

Refrain from going to the beach (and other locations) to view the storm, take pictures, fishing, windsurfing, swimming, etc.

Stay off the roads (car or foot traffic) during the storm and immediately following the event. 

The potential for wires down (still electrically charged) and trees down is always a concern.
