If a tropical storm or hurricane is forecast to impact Westbrook
Visitors are encouraged to leave Westbrook and return to their homes, at least 12-24 hours prior to affecting Westbrook. Visitors can remain in Westbrook if they can stay at their location with no impacts to their life and safety. During a weather event, emergency services (police - fire - ambulance) are limited or restricted to responding until wind speeds are reduced to a safe level by their service chief.
Residents who live adjacent to the shoreline and marshes are encouraged to consider temporarily leaving their home and stay with:
Family or Friends
Hotel inland from the shoreline
During the storm/Post Storm
Refrain from going to the beach (and other locations) to view the storm, take pictures, fishing, windsurfing, swimming, etc.
Stay off the roads (car or foot traffic) during the storm and immediately following the event.
The potential for wires down (still electrically charged) and trees down is always a concern.
Post Storm Information
Updates will be posted on our website and social media pages on town conditions, 9 Town Transport Services and other related topics.
Carefully survey your property. If you have damage, contact your insurance company immediately and follow their guidelines.
Any extended power outage, Emergency Management will open a fresh water station for residents with wells and a recharging station for cell phone/tablets/laptops. COVID-19 guidelines will also be implemented.
